A wide range of types and styles of container are available to lease and or purchase to suit every type of 2 dimensional object,  but principally paintings, watercolours and prints.

The newest type of high performance museum standard container is the improved and enhanced ‘Island Range’, announced in our  Newsletters  and as illustrated below.

CONTAINER STRUCTURE

‘Island Range’ are constructed using 9mm plywood panels faced both sides with a balanced (equal thickness) white laminate, which has much improved puncture resistance and solar reflective properties.  The panels are stiffened with softwood battens as appropriate to container size and are assembled with screws and a high performance  silicone sealant.  Container lids are fitted with a sufficient quantity of quick release or captive screw fasteners.

A 30mm plastazote seal is fitted as standard.  Containers are also fitted with a suitable quantity of surface mounted  handles, as well as fork lift battens on the base to ensure safe movement by both man and machine.

 INSULATION AND CUSHIONING

Each container is lined internally with a basic insulation layer of Plastazote (expanded polyethylene) of either 24mm (nominal 1”) or 50mm (nominal 2”) dependent upon size and style of container.

Cushioning will be tailored using polyurethane foam and be of  a density, type, area and depth to suit the weight, fragility, profile and dimensions of the object(s) being packed.

IDENTIFICATION

Each container is fitted with internationally approved warning labels and lender specified identification labels.  Softwood battens are stencilled with ISPM 15 Forestry Commission mark FC0462 on both faces as appropriate and in accordance with the International Wood Marking Scheme.
